Humidity and grip tape

Why grips fail faster in the tropics.

· Noelani Kahale

Humidity is hard on grips. The tape beneath the rubber absorbs moisture, loosens and eventually fails.

You can tell when it is happening because the grip begins to twist slightly under pressure. By then, the tape is almost gone.

What to do

Regrip once a year, even if the grips look fine. If you play often, twice. It costs less than a new club and improves feel.

Store the clubs in a dry place, not a garage.
